How to Care for your African Fabric

  1. Turn your head wrap inside out
  2. Hand wash using a mild bar soap (Machine washing is ok as well)
  3. Steam or iron on low heat

DO's

  • Separate colors from whites
  • Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water - use mild detergent
  • Hang to dry*Iron on the inside using the setting for cotton, or use cooler settings.  

DONT'S

  • Bleach
  • Wash in the washing machine or tumble dry - the fabrics are delicate
  • Wring or twist dry
  • Use excessive heat - that will destroy the fabric

How to remove the sticker from your Ankara

(Please note any stickers on your Ankara come like that from the manufacturer)

  • Place a piece of paper towel directly on top of the sticker label
  • Gently press your warm/hot iron on the paper towel so that it can melt the adhesive on the sticker (make sure to cover all 4 corners of the sticker)
  • Peel off the sticker slowly
  • Place paper towel over the adhesive on the fabric
  • Gently press your warm/hot iron on the paper towel so that it can melt the adhesive on the fabric
  • Remove the paper towel and...Ehn hen.! You're done!
